Turning Your Feedback into School Improvements

Last November, we launched our new Student and Family Experience Surveys. The feedback we received from Community Transition Program students and families provided us with valuable insights into our strengths and areas for improvement. 

We received feedback from 16 students (50%) and 11 parents/guardians. These survey results have been analyzed to help guide our decision-making and school improvements.  

Here are a few things we learned from the student survey:

Our Strength

• 100% of students know what to do during an emergency at school (Hold, Secure Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter).

• 100% of students feel safe from harm at school.

• 81.3% of students feel the work they do for their classes makes them think deeply.

• 99.9% of students feel most of their teachers don’t let people give up when the work gets hard.

Areas for Improvement

The survey also helped us identify specific areas where we can better support our students.

Students are telling us they feel safe, respected, and supported in their classrooms. Our next level of work is making sure every student feels connected beyond the classroom, challenged in their thinking, and knows exactly where to go for support (ie mental health access, etc).

Together, we are empowering all of our Community Transition Program students to reach their highest potential. Our ability to improve is driven by the feedback we receive from our families and students. We will continue to listen and learn, and we look forward to doing this again!
